Online Booking Tips for Airport Cars
When booking online with major national car rental chains its helpful to know the airport code for the airport you will pickup at. These major agencies have many locations and different rates at a given time and you need to fill out their booking forms entirely to get a rate for your trip. Knowing the airport code can be a shortcut to your online rate and reservation.
When you need a rental car for vacation or business, it's a good idea to consider several factors while reserving to help make your trip more enjoyable. Airport rates are often a key consideration in the reservation of your car but, there are other factors that are equally important. For example, what are their hours of operation? Some smaller companies may close early on weekends.
Besides your rate, you should also consider the service you will receive when you get off the airline, how quickly you can obtain your rental car, the vehicle, model and its condition, the convenience of dropping off your car rental, the hours of operation and the availability of box drop off facility.
If your first drive will be from an airport to a hotel for the night, why not take a shuttle van to the hotel instead? That may save you the price of days rental. In major cities, you could probably pick up the car downtown. Even if you must drive the same day your flight lands, you don't have to necessarily get the car at the airport. By picking it up downtown, you can often avoid airport surcharges.
It is also important to be aware of the policies and restrictions of the different agencies. Some agencies even allow cash rentals, debit cards and rentals to those 18 to 25 years of age. Consideration of all of these factors can help make a large difference in your overall rental car experience.
All Specials and Rental Deals (Free unlimited milage, Free airport pick up and drop off, free upgrade,...)are subject to conditions and availability at participating locations. Rent a car rates may not reflect all offers and/or vehicle classes than those shown. Generally "base rate" do not include taxes, options, etc.
Know the specifics on damage waivers. Do not simply assume that your credit card carrier will cover the costs of repairs if you decline the rental car company's insurance coverage. Read the fine print! Many credit card coverage plans do not apply to certain types of vehicles and may not be applicable in some locations. If you have any doubts, take the insurance....you can be held responsible for the full amount of any damage done to the rental car while it is in your possession.
